Ogilby's Road from London to Marlborough Printed Area Measurement_36.5 x 43 cm and a detailed explanation beneathOur journey begins in London and follows the road west through Knightsbridge and Kensington (with Hyde Park to one side), Hammersmith and Turnham Green, and via Reading and Newbury extends as far as Marlborough in Wiltshire. Thousands of miles of roads were surveyed for the project, smaller towns appeared in detail for the first time, and it was largely thanks to John Ogilbys influence that the Statute Mile was set at 1760 yards. Ogilby devised the
